The American Corner of Russia, the U.S. Consulate, hosts its weekly debate club from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Mayakovsky Library, 46 Nab. Reki Fontanki. Led by a native speaker, the Debate Club brings English practice to another level.

A library card is necessary to attend (available for free at the library).

The American Corner of Russia at the A.C. Pushkina Children’s Library, 27 Ulitsa Mayakovskogo, hosts “Fun English” every Monday and Thursday at 4:40 p.m. for pre-school and school-aged children.

Every Monday at 8:00 p.m. the Internations networking site for expats holds a free English Tea Club at the Atrium Restaurant, 71 Nevsky Prospekt. Come to practice your English conversation with like-minded people — but not before registering on the Internation’s website.

SPIBA invites the public to a seminar on “Engagement Model: What it is and how to use it” from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at SPIBA‘s office in the Mertens House business center at 21 Nevsky Prospekt. Ivan Zubakin will be a special guest at the event. Register by June 21 via email (office@spiba.ru), the SPIBA website (www.spiba.ru) or by phone (325 9091). The event will be held in Russian. Participants are asked to let SPIBA know if an English translator is needed.

The American Chamber of Commerce in St. Petersburg (AmCham) will hold a PR Committee meeting for members at 4 p.m. to discuss internal communications and team building.

SPIBA continues its “Breakfast with the Director” series with speaker Sandis Steins, Managing Director of Statoil Retail Operations, who will address the topic “From Operations to Cooperation.” The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Admiralty Hall of the Corinthia Nevsky Palace Hotel, 57 Nevsky Prospekt. RSVP by June 25 via email (office@spiba.ru) or by phone (325-9091). The event will be held in English. Participants are asked to let SPIBA know if a Russian translator is needed.

SPIBA will also host its English Speaking Club from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Native English speakers provide a relaxed and topic-driven discussion using business language and idioms for those looking to strengthen their professional English over a cup of tea.
