Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Kills 12 in Chinese Coal Mine

MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) – The death toll from a carbon monoxide poisoning in a northern China coal mine climbed to 12 after a missing miner was found dead, Xinhua news agency reported. The carbon monoxide poisoning in the Aijiagou coal mine in Hebei Province was caused by a fire in a forcing fan on Thursday night. Thirteen people worked in the mine at the time of the accident. Rescuers continue their search for the last missing miner. The mining industry in China is one of the most dangerous in the world due to poor work safety standards and intensive work schedules.
