Russia demands extradition of 2 murder suspectsmen

Moscow has filed a formal request with the Ukrainian authorities for the extradition of two suspects in the recent killing of 12 people in southern Russia. If the extradition request is granted all the alleged murderers will be face justice, an Investigative Committee representative said on Thursday.

Russia sees the planned deployment of US warplanes at a airbase in Poland as a military beef-up threatening the security of other countries. Presidents Barack Obama and Bronislaw Komorowski have agreed to use an airbase in Lask to handle US fighter jets and transport planes.

Colombia landslide kills 27

Rescue workers have pulled out another victim of Sunday’s mudslide in northwestern Colombia, bringing the overall death toll to 27. Workers and neighbors are using earthmovers, picks and shovels to dig through the mud, after a sodden hillside collapsed on Sunday burying 50 homes in Bello town, near the Antioquia province’s capital Medellin.

19 countries have said they will not attend Friday’s Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo.
