Cholera Scare Prompts Tajik Protest To Russia

Tajikistan’s Embassy in Moscow says a note of protest has been sent to Russia’s Foreign Ministry over the detention over a possible health scare of two Tajik airline passengers in the city of Rostov-on-Don.

Ambassador Abdulmajid Dostiev said a plane traveling from Tajikistan to Russia was re-routed to Rostov-on-Don when one of the Tajik passengers became ill during the flight.

Two Tajik nationals were put in isolation under suspicion they had cholera.

Some 150 other passengers and the crew were also briefly put in isolation and checked for cholera.

It turned out the two Tajiks were simply ill from food they ate in Tajikistan.
