PHUKET, Thailand – Police have confirmed that a Russian tourist died in a swimming pool at the Royal Crown Hotel Palm Spa Resort in Patong this morning (November 1) at around 4.30am. Pol Maj Jongsirm Preecha, an inquiry officer at Kathu Police, said he believed the Russian man died from falling in the pool when he was drunk. Police found a bottle of alcohol at the poolside. The Russian Embassy has been notified and will contact the man’s next of kin.
