Eight Dead in Central Russia Car Crash

MOSCOW, April 9 (RIA Novosti) – Eight people were killed and one seriously injured when three vehicles collided and caught fire east of Moscow early on Tuesday, the regional emergencies service said.

The deadly accident occurred shortly after midnight in the Vladimir Region, about 140 km east of Moscow.

“The car crash was caused by a serious violation of traffic rules – driving into the oncoming lane. As a result, a Mitsubishi Pajero car collided with a Volvo truck and a GAZelle van. The vehicles caught fire,” the emergencies service said in a statement.

The statement did not specify who violated the rules.
