Estonian Security Officer Gets 15 Years for Spying for Russia

TALLINN, October 30 (RIA Novosti) – A retired Estonian intelligence officer was sentenced on Wednesday to 15 years in prison for treason and spying for Russia, an Estonian court said.

Vladimir Veitman, who retired from the Estonian Security Police in 2011, was arrested in August for giving secret information to Russian special services, the court said in a statement, without disclosing when the incident took place.

Veitman joined the security police in 1991. In Soviet days, from 1980 until 1991, he worked for the KGB.
