French, Russian Presidents To Meet

French President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin are due to meet in Moscow on February 28.

Ahead of the meeting, Hollande spoke to Russian media about his expectations for his talks with Putin.

Hollande said he would ask Putin for help in withdrawing French forces and equipment from Afghanistan.

Hollande also said he would assure Putin that France has no intention of violating the embargo on supplying weapons to factions in Syria.

Hollande said he believed a solution would be found to the Syrian crisis that would “stop the conflict from escalating,” without elaborating.

The Kremlin press service said other topics on the agenda would be cooperation between the European Union and Russia, fighting illegal drug trafficking, and terrorism.
