Gunman blocked in private house surrenders in Dagestan’ s Derbent

DERBENT (Dagestan), August 27 (Itar-Tass) —— One of two gunmen, which were blocked at a private house on Friday evening, surrendered to the authorities as a result of negotiations in the Dagestani city of Derbent on Saturday morning. “The mothers of the gunmen, who opened fire at the republican FSB department in Derbent on Friday, participated in the negotiations,” a source in the Derbent law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Saturday. “Another gunman entrenched in the house. According to preliminary reports, he is wounded. The negotiations for surrender continue with him,” the source said.

The detectives found that three gunmen hijacked a VAZ-21099 car at about 2.45 p.m. Moscow time on Friday on the outskirts of Derbent in the Sukhaya Rechka district. They fired at 3 p.m. Moscow time at the FSB department from this car. Then the gunmen opened fire at the law enforcers, who chased them down, at the crossroads of Pushkin Street and Magomed Gadzhiyev Street. A gunman from Makhachkala Magomed Tamurayev, born in 1992, was destroyed in the retaliatory fire. Two gunmen, including an injured criminal, abandoned the car and entrenched at a private house under construction at 13, Magomed Gadzhiyev Street. The anti-terrorist regime was introduced in this Derbent district.

The negotiations were on with the blocked gunmen until late Friday evening. However, the talks were futile. The negotiations continued on Saturday morning.

The SK investigation department opened a criminal case over the shootout and car hijacking for an attempt on the life of law enforcers, banditry and the illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition.
