Kim’s train travels across north-eastern China

SEOUL, August 26 (Itar-Tass) — After a stopover for the night at the railway station of Hulunbeier, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the special train of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il travels further, the Yonhap news agency reported on Friday.

The itinerary of the train is traditionally kept secret. Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that on his way home Kim Jong Il intended to visit the northwestern part of China.

On Thursday, on its way from Ulan-Ude, where Kim Jong Il and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had negotiations on Wednesday, the train made a stopover in the city of Manzhouli not far from the Chinese border. The North Korean leader was greeted there by senior Chinese Communist Party envoy Wang Jiarui and other officials, KCNA reported.

Want told Kim that he had arrived in Majzhoili to guide Kim at the instruction of Chinese President Hu Jintao and other leaders, KCNA said. The North Korean leader attended a banquet and an arts performance before heading for Hulunbeier.

This is already the third visit of the North Korean leader to Russia. However, he had never come back to the homeland by his train across China.
