MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) – The annual Miss Universe competition will be held in Moscow on November 9 the organizers announced this week, the first time the pageant has been held in Russia.
It will also be the first return to a European venue for Miss Universe since the 2000 pageant in Cyprus.
Donald Trump, owner of the Miss Universe Organization, and the current American Miss Universe titleholder, Olivia Culpo, made the announcement of the venue on Sunday.
The event will be held in the capital’s Crocus City Hall, Global Beauties website reported. The 90 contestants are expected to arrive in Russia around October 15 for the pre-pageant activities, Global Beauties said.
The Miss Universe pageant has been held anually since 1952. Russia’s sole winner was former police officer Oxana Fyodorova in 2002.
