Russian Boy Shot to Death While “Playing War” on Victory Day

MOSCOW, May 9 (RIA Novosti) – A boy in southwest Russia was accidentally killed by his friend on Thursday while playing a war game using an old gun, Russian investigators said on Thursday.

The incident occurred as Russia celebrates Victory Day on May 9.

The body of the 10-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head was discovered near his house in the village of Shakhovo, in the Belgorod Region, on Thursday, the Investigative Committee said.

The victim and his friend, both pupils of a local school, found the gun, a model of the 1940s, in a shed. “The boy was accidentally shot and died at the scene,” the statement said. An investigation is ongoing.
