Russian Police Hunt for Suspect in Quadruple Murder

KRASNODAR, November 17 (RIA Novosti) – Police are looking for a man suspected of murdering his ex-wife and three of her family members in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, the local Investigative Committee said on Sunday.

The suspect, 39-year-old Yevgeny Marushko, went to his ex-wife’s house in the village of Starominskaya on Saturday morning and attacked the woman, her daughters, and her son-in-law with a knife, investigators said.

The 36-year-old woman, as well as her 19-year-old daughter and her 23-year-old husband, died on the spot from stab wounds, the committee said in the statement.

The woman’s 12-year-old daughter was seriously injured and hospitalized, but died from her wounds early Sunday morning.

The older daughter’s newborn baby girl, who was also in the house, was left alive and untouched, investigators said.

The Investigative Committee said it believes the suspect committed the murders because of personal hostility.

Police have placed Marushko, who faces life in prison if caught and convicted, on the federal wanted list.
