Russian Copper Company has signed a contract with Finland’s Metso Mining and Construction to provide full maintenance at the Mikheevsky mining and processing facility for six and a half years once it begins operations. The value of the contract exceeds 140 million euros.

RCC’s press office told RusBusinessNews that its foreign partner will ensure the work of the crushing and breaking equipment and manage the operating procedures. Metso will also supply spare parts and grinding agents. Eighty-five experts from Metso will be brought to the Mikheevsky site in order to carry out the work under this contract.

The mining and processing facility at the Mikheevskoye porphyry-copper ore deposit is the largest such complex to be built from scratch anywhere in the former Soviet Union. The total investment will amount to $780 million USD, 60% of which has already been spent. The facility will begin operating in late 2013 and will be able to produce 18 million tons of ore per year.
