Russian businessmen Alisher Usmanov and Roman Abramovich have made it into the top three of Sunday Times Rich List of U.K.’s wealthiest people, BBC reported.
The richest person on the list, published on Sunday, is steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, 61, with the wealth estimated at 12.7 billion pounds (about $20.6 billion). This is his seventh consecutive title, though he lost 27 percent of his wealth since last year because of a drop in the share price of their steel producing business.
“Another person who has made money from the metal industry, Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov, is second with 12.3 billion pounds (over $20 billion), while Chelsea owner and oil baron Roman Abramovich is third with 9.5 billion pounds ($15.4 billion), despite being 800 million pounds ($1.3 billion) down on last year,” BBC said.
The richest woman on the list is Miss UK Kirsty Bertarelli, ranked sixth. She shares a fortune of 7.4 billion pounds (about $12 billion) with her husband, Swiss entrepreneur Ernesto Bertarelli.
The combined worth of the country’s 1,000 wealthiest people is 414 billion pounds (almost $673.5 billion), up 4.7 percent in the past 12 months. The number of billionaires has risen from 73 to 77.
The list is compiled by Sunday Times annually on the basis of open-access information and own sources.
