The world has ended up romanticizing situations that are purely political. But events in Libya are not even a political conflict – this is war, says blogger Karl Sharro in his interview with RT.
According to Sharro, Gaddafi’s killing has been cynically exploited by all sides.
“On the one hand we have the “cheerleaders” from the West, from Obama to Sarkozy and Cameron, willing to take credit for something they never had any hand in. On the other hand there is the UN brigade and The Hague brigade who insist that he should have been sent to The Hague to be tried, thus depriving the Libyans of their sovereignty and their right for [self-]determination.”
The blogger says that the current situation shows that people have some faith in the NTC, but in fact it is only an illusion that the NTC has full control on the ground.
“You can see the tension between the NTC command and some of the Islamist-led groups,” Sharro notes.
He also adds that, in his view, NATO should not have interfered from the beginning and the West should not have jumped to recognize the NTC as legitimate representatives of Libya because that made the situation even more complicated.
“And maybe some other party in Libya could have represented the revolutionary aspirations,” he thinks.
