Rescuers and firefighters extinguished six wildfires over the past 24 hours and are trying to put out another six in Russia’s Far East, the Emergencies Ministry reported on Saturday.
Russia is trying to prevent the developments of last summer, when an enormous heat wave in the country’s European part caused massive wildfires, which killed 62 people and left thousands homeless.
“All fires are located far from inhabited localities, so there is no threat to people or property,” a ministry spokesman said.
The spokesman said 185 people and nine aircraft were used to fight the wildfires.
