MOSCOW, Jul 26 (PRIME) — Russias State Radio Frequency Commission is expected to consider recommendations on a fourth generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network rollout submitted by a consortium of major telecommunications operators in late August, Deputy Communications and Mass Media Minister Naum Marder said Tuesday.
The exact date of the commissions meeting has yet to be determined, Marder said.
Oleg Malis, chairman of the supervisory board of the consortium, which comprises major mobile operators MTS, MegaFon, and VimpelCom, as well as major wireline operator Rostelecom, confirmed in an interview with business daily Vedomosti published on Monday that the consortium had recommended rolling out 4G LTE networks in Russia in frequencies in the 2.52.7 gigahertz (GHz) and 694915 megahertz (MHz) ranges.
The State Radio Frequency Commission instructed MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom, and Rostelecom, to study the possibility of launching 4G networks in December 2010 and requested the operators submit the studys results by July 1.
