MOSCOW, Jul 27 (PRIME) — The Prosecutor Generals Office plans to probe Web search engines operations following the leak of Russian government documents via the engines search results, the Prosecutor Generals Office spokeswoman Marina Gridneva said, RIA Novosti reported Wednesday.
The Prosecutor Generals Office has instructed Moscow prosecutors to look into reports that search engine Google displayed internal documents of a number of government bodies in its search results, Gridneva said.
Search engines have also recently displayed personal data about customers on online stores and SMS messages sent from major mobile operator MegaFons Web site. Major Russian search engine Yandex, which displayed the data in its search engines, said Tuesday it recommended Web site administrators to carefully study information about files designed to prevent Web search engines from indexing Web pages with private information.
