MOSCOW, Aug 2 (PRIME) — The Moscow government has finally approved a 329 billion ruble program to develop the citys telecommunications and IT infrastructure in 20122016, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.
The program is aimed at providing IT infrastructure for schools and hospitals, as well as providing government services via the Internet.
Moscow authorities also plan to strengthen information security and the protection of personal data, following a leak of SMS messages sent from major mobile operator MegaFons Web site, which occurred in mid-July.
The Moscow government considered the program in late June, after which a public discussion on the program was held.
In mid-July, the Moscow audit chamber criticized the program, claiming in particular that the program envisaged unreasonable expenditures and stipulated no measures on information security.
