Russia will propose the Urals city of Yekaterinburg as a candidate to host the World Expo 2020 international exhibition, presidential Aide Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters on Tuesday.
Expo 2020 will showcase the world’s latest scientific, technological and economic achievements and inventions.
The Russian government has considered all bids and decided that Yekaterinburg and the city of Nizhny Novgorod on the Volga were the best candidates.
“Following consultations, the president decided to support the application of Yekaterinburg,” Dvorkovich said.
“The president and the government will give all the necessary instructions to prepare the bid file for Yekaterinburg. We will strive for victory.”
