Law enforcement officers eliminated in separate raids alleged leaders of two insurgency groups in the North Caucasian republic of Dagestan on Wednesday, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said.
Magomed “Al-Bara” Abdusalamov was blocked and shot dead near the village of Khuchni with no casualties among the law enforcements, the committee’s press service said.
Abdusalamov, the alleged head of the so-called “Izberbash gang,” was transporting in his car a powerful bomb made from a 100-liter barrel filled with explosives, which was defused by a bomb squad, the report said.
Elsewhere in the republic, police shot dead Nazhmudin “Abu-Zeit” Nazhmudinov, the supposed leader of the “Tsumada gang,” the report said.
A policeman was killed and two others wounded during the shootout, along with Nazhmudinov’s female supporter Zarema Ramadanova, who also fired at the officers, the committee said.
