Police Detain Woman Evoking Spirits in Red Square

Police have detained a woman in Red Square who was evoking spirits to stave off the end of the world for Russia, the news portal lifenews.ru reported.

The 35-year-old woman, from the central Chuvashia region, placed a prayer carpet on the square’s world-famous cobbles and launched into an address to the spirits before being led away by police on Wednesday noon.

She was then taken to a psychiatric facility.

Hours later, a drunken Ukrainian national threw two empty beer bottles at Lenin’s Mausoleum, the granite tomb of the Bolshevik revolutionary, before making unseemly remarks about Russia’s leadership.

He was swiftly detained and also taken to a psychiatric facility.
