Electrician Steals 29 Gold Bars

An electrician from Yakutia in Russia’s Far East has stolen gold bars worth of 2.5 million rubles ($75,000), a spokesperson from the local police department said.

On June 23, an employee from the local Sberbank office, the largest bank in Russia, came to the police. He said that an unknown person had entered a cash room and stole 29 gold bars.

“During the investigation the police found and detained a man who is suspected of stealing the gold. He is a 42-year-old local resident. The police found the stolen gold at his residence. It was determined that the man was working as an electrician in the company Liftremont and when he was repairing the elevator at Sberbank, he committed the theft,” the spokesperson said.
