Family of late pianist asks doctors drop speculations on his health

MOSCOW, August 10 (Itar-Tass) — The family of late pianist , People’s Artist of the Soviet Union Nikolai Petrov expressed surprise over lack of tact demonstrated by doctors of ” Medicina” company who have been telling details to journalists which, in the relatives’ opinion, should be known to a limited range of people, the family of the famous pianist said in an open letter to President of Medicina company Grigory Roitberg. A copy of the letter was sent to Health and Social Development Minister Tatyana Golikova.

“We are grateful to the doctors who fought for Nikolai Petrov’s life, but making public a medical diagnosis of the outstanding patient the doctors are desecrating the memories of the pianist and are disclosing medical secrecy,” the family said.

The widow of the great pianist, Larisa Grigoryevna, and their daughter Yevgenia Petrova said that ” the doctors’ conduct is obviously fraught with responsibility, but the family does not intend to begin court proceedings because this will not bring back the beloved husband and good father either to the family, or the outstanding musician to the world”.

The family of Nikolai Petrov hopes that the health minister will draw corresponding conclusions and asked not to disturb the pianist after his death.

An outstanding pianist and prominent figure in the world of music and public life, Nikolai Petrov, died after a long, hard disease in Moscow on August 3. He was 68.
