Filmmakers Ask Shaman to Improve Swiss Weather

YAKUTSK, November 22 (RIA Novosti) – Filmmakers in the Russian republic of Yakutia have asked the area’s best shaman for help dispersing cloud cover over Switzerland, which is delaying filming on Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov’s latest movie, the republic’s culture ministry said.

Nikita Mikhalkov heads the Russian Union of Filmmakers, which is to sign a cooperation agreement with the local authorities in Yakutia. The signing had been scheduled as part of a celebration of local culture and film.

“The high-point of the conference, for Yakutian filmmakers, was supposed to be the signing of a cooperation agreement between the authorities in Yakutia and the Russian Union of Filmmakers,” the statement by Yakutia’s culture ministry read.

However, with Nikita Mikhalkov filming in Switzerland, and the weather there showing scant sign of improving, Yakutia’s local culture ministry fears that the signing may not take place.

Local filmmakers have turned to Yakutia’s best shaman for help in ensuring the Swiss weather clears up in time.

RIA Novosti has not been able to reach Mikhalkov for comment.
