Intl media ‘held’ in Tripoli hotel

Forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi are reportedly holding foreign journalists captive in the Rixos hotel in Libya’s capital Tripoli. The area is still thought to be controlled by the colonel’s fighters. Journalists say there is heavy fighting nearby.

Reports are also coming about snipers firing at rebels at the Libyan leader’s compound, which was taken over by the rebel forces on Tuesday. Earlier, the opposition celebrated victory and vented their anger at the portraits and luxuries in their former dictator. Gaddafi’s whereabouts, however, remain unknown.

Muammar Gaddafi earlier made his second radio address in the space of 24 hours, calling on supporters to cleanse the capital. He claims his retreat from the compound was tactical, and promised to fight to the death.
