Right Cause leader Mikhail Prokhorov has defended his call for Russia to change its currency to the euro.
The billionaire says it is not about “patriotism” or “surrendering Russia’s interests.” It should be done, he says, for the sake of “mutually beneficial business” with the European Community.
Prokhorov made it clear that under his plans Russia will not have to join NATO or the EU. He said that the EU, for their part, needed to be confident in Russia supplying them with oil and gas.
Prokhorov also cited the abolition of visas for Russian citizens travelling to Europe as very important.
