Russia Establishes Businessmen Rights Supervisory Body

The Russian Prosecutor’s Office has established a department for the supervision of entrepreneur rights, to reduce the bureaucratic burden on business, spokeswoman Marina Gridneva said on Friday.

“The established body will allow a reduction in the administrative burden on business, increasing the responsibility of executive bodies at all levels for supervisory functions, to fully implement the principles of the market economy, and to guarantee the protection of rights of any entrepreneur if they are violated,” Gridneva told reporters.

The new department will consist of a subdivision which will supervise the implementation of laws protecting the rights of businessmen, and a subdivision to supervise over legality of monitoring inspections.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for the appointment of an ombudsman for the rights protection of businessmen and a department with the same functions in the Prosecutor’s Office.
