Russian antitrust OKs Sistema gaining full control over Kosmos-TV

MOSCOW, Aug 9 (PRIME) — Russias Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has cleared multi-industry holding AFK Sistema to gain full control in currently 50%-owned satellite TV operator Kosmos-TV, the antitrust service said Tuesday.

Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS) currently owns the remaining 50% stake in Kosmos-TV.

AFK Sistema has reportedly been expressing interest in gaining full control over Kosmos-TV for several years. The holding is still interested and is in talks to increase its stake in Kosmos-TV to 100%, a spokesperson for AFK Sistema told PRIME.

AFK Sistema holds the 50% stake in Kosmos-TV via Sistema Mass Media, which focuses on media content development.

Kosmos-TV provides satellite TV services in Moscow and the Moscow Region.
