Russian Lower House May Ratify WTO Accession Packet by July 20

The Russian government will study its protocol to the World Trade Organization on June 7 and the lower house of parliament, the State Duma, may ratify the country’s accession into the WTO by July 20, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said on Monday.

“2012 is a very important year for us as we will conclude our accession into the WTO, and the days are literally numbered on this,” Shuvalov said.

He said that instructions have been received from Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to review the protocol in the State Duma on Thursday.
