Second shark attack registered in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK, August 18 (Itar-Tass) — A shark in Russia’ s Primorye territory made a repeated attack on Thursday.

A 16-year-old boy was immediately taken to a hospital in Vladivostok by a motor boat. There has been no information about his conditions and injuries so far.

According the Emergencies Ministry’s department in the Khasan district, the incident occurred at 3:00 local time on the Zheltukhina Island south off the Peter the Great Bay, not far from the Far Eastern maritime reserve, where the first attack took place on August 17.

The first attack happened 20-25 meters off the coast in Telyakovsky Bay in southern Primorye.

The 25-year old man got multiple heavy injuries of thighs and body and lost to arms. He had been operated on and his life is out of danger.

This is the first case of shark attacks in the Primorye Territory. Biologists suspect a white shark that from time to time approaches Primorye’s coast hunting for eared seals.

The Emergencies Ministry imposed a temporary ban on swimming at all beaches of the Khasan district.
