Total of eleven people injured in 3 major road accidents in Moscow

MOSCOW, August 21 (Itar-Tass) — A total of three major road accidents occurred in Moscow late night Saturday, leaving eleven people injured.

In the biggest of them, five cars collided on Novinsky Boulevard opposite the U.S. embassy building.

“One of the cars caught fire,” a police source told Itar-Tass. “Luckily, no one died but five people were injured.”

The accident that involved some luxury cars caused a traffic jam on Novinsky Boulevard, which is one of the streets making up the city’s Garden Ring.

Four people received injuries in an accident on Nizhniye Mnevniki Street in the west of the city where two cars collided.

“One of the injured is a child,” the source said. “Physicians assess the condition of three injured as heavy.”

A Ford police car collided with a Mercedes Benz on the downtown Vorontsovo Pole Street. Two policemen received heavy traumas but no one inside the Mercedes was injured.

At the time of reporting, road police experts were trying to establish the causes of the accidents.
