UAC plans to produce 25-30 pct of world’s transport jets by 2025

ZHUKOVSKY, August 16 (Itar-Tass) —— The United Aircraft-building Corporation (UAC) plans to produce 25-30 percent of the total number of transport aircraft in the world by 2025, UAC senior vice president, Oleg Demchenko, said at the opening of the MAKS-2011 air show.

“Our goal is to occupy a niche of 25-30 percent of the world market of transport aircraft in 2025,” he said. “As of 2025 we shall be producing more than 120 aircraft a year.”

Regarding the supply of transport aircraft for the Defense Ministry, he said that “today the UAC is represented by the largest number of transport aircraft.”

“I am referring to IL-76, AN-124 and AN-70,” said Demchenko.

The base plant for the production of transport aircraft will be the Ulyanovsk plant Aviastar.

“This venture will operate in cooperation with the Voronezh Aviation Plant, as it will be necessary to cope with large production contracts,” UAC vice-president said.

Demchenko pointed to the prospects for the program to develop a multipurpose transport plane (MTP).

“The MTP is being developed within the framework of an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and India,” said Demchenko. “On the Russian side the program’s participants are Rosoboronexport and UAC – Transport Aircraft, and on the Indian side, the state-run aircraft maker Hindustan Aeronautics.

“At present all preliminary design work on the aircraft has been completed and a joint Russian-Indian company created. It will be the main contractor for the development, production and post-sale maintenance of the MTP,” said Demchenko. “This program is a promising one and it will be up and running in the near future.”
