KIEV, August 19 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine is preparing proposals for Russia on cooperation in the gas sector, Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said at a briefing on Friday.
“We are now studying and thinking what we can propose to the Russian side for talks,” Azarov said.
“Regrettably, Gazprom head Alexei Miller has not conveyed any proposals to us. Miller and the Russian side wait for proposals from us. They have formulated approximately what they want,” he said.
According to Azarov, the issue is in the phase of discussion and studying.
Earlier, Miller proposed cooperation to Ukraine in the gas sector according to the Belarusian model, where Gazprom has 50 percent of the shares in the Belarusian gas transportation company Beltransgaz. Talks are underway at present to get 50 percent more.
