A young U.S. couple from Whitehouse, Texas, opened a Facebook profile for their unborn baby girl, Marriah Greene, U.S. media reported on Wednesday.
The parents of the soon-to-be-born Marriah, Ellie and Matthew Greene, said that they had created a page to inform the relatives and friends about Ellie’s pregnancy.
“Everybody is on Facebook, all of our friends are on Facebook, things fly through Facebook now,” Ellie told the local KLTV TV channel, adding that within a day Marriah had over 100 friends.
Ellie posts information on Marriah’s page, chatting with friends on behalf of her daughter or posting screenshots of the baby’s face from the clinic’s ultrasound scanner.
As social media gain global popularity with over 500 million people using Facebook and almost 200 million on Twitter’s userbase, people create trickier and trickier ways to acquire their “15 minutes of glory.”
Among the most popular unusual Facebook profiles are the one of Boo, a Pomeranian who has over 1.2 million fans on his public page. The late psychic octopus Paul, famous for his World Cup forecasts, continues making friends, reaching 100,000 even after his death.
