Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is starting his official visit to Armenia on Monday, the Armenian presidential press service reported.
“The visit by the Iranian president-led delegation will be held on an invitation from Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan,” the press service said.
The Iranian embassy in Armenia said that during his one-day visit, Ahmadinejad will also meet with other top officials.
“The Iranian president’s visit is aimed at strengthening and deepening relations with Armenia. Bilateral economic agreements will be signed during the visit,” an embassy official said.
Last week Tehran hosted the tenth meeting of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which resulted in the signing of an agreement on cooperation in power industry, water supply, and the oil and gas sphere.
