Russia’s Foreign Ministry has criticized the European Parliament for passing a resolution calling on Moscow to guarantee free elections and lift curbs on the opposition People’s Freedom Party.
The ministry called the resolution, passed earlier on June 7 in Strasbourg, a crude attempt to interfere in Russian internal affairs.
The European Parliament’s resolution, passed with a clear majority by the parliament in Strasbourg, said the body “deplores” the decision to reject the registration of the People’s Freedom Party last month.
It added that such restrictions showed continuing obstacles to political pluralism.
