Yelena Baturina, the billionaire wife of former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, told web-based Dozhd television on Thursday she fears not being allowed to leave Russia if she returns from her current home in London.
However, Baturina said she would come to Russia if the situation changes.
“When do I think it would be possible to appear there? Probably when I no longer feel a certain pressure on me, an effort to get at my husband in some way,” she said.
Baturina, Russia’s richest woman, says she is living in a rented home in London. Although her personal wealth took a beating during the global financial crisis and the subsequent sell-off of her businesses, Forbes estimated her fortune earlier this year at $1.2 billion.
It was reported earlier that Baturina has sold her property development company Inteko, which thrived when her husband was the mayor of Moscow, as well as other businesses, to BN Bank owner Mikhail Shishkhanov in partnership with Sberbank Investments.
