Six Russian sailors, and one Estonian national, who were kidnapped off the Nigerian coast two weeks ago were released on Thursday morning, the Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet told journalists.
“Now we need to help the Estonian citizen get home as fast as possible,” he said. Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday said that the Russian sailors were “feeling well” and that they would soon return home.
The minister noted the productive cooperation between Estonia, the ship’s owners and international partners, but gave no details regarding how their release was secured.
