The South Korean government has ended a total embargo over North Korea.
A decision to lift the ban follows reports about the dire poverty situation being experienced by the population of the North.
The Eugene Bell Foundation, which has a close working relationship with Caritas Korea, will be the first to ship humanitarian aid to North Korea.
There have been reports about the worsening economic and food situation in the North.
South Korea’s Unification Ministry, has legally approved the aid which was interrupted last year because of military provocations by Pyongyang.
