ASHGABAT, July 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Turkmenistan raises wages, retirement benefits, scholarships and other state allowances by 10 percent from January 1, 2012, according to a decree signed by Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, local media reported on Saturday.
Thus, from January 1, 2012 a minimal wage in Turkmenistan will reach 400 manats (140 U.S. dollars).
“The increase in wages has become possible because of better organization of the work of companies, enterprises and institutions, which has made it possible to make a more efficient use of production facilities and labour force, and also thanks to internal reserves,” the document says.
Wages in Turkmenistan has been raised by 10 percent annually since 2008, from an avergae 100 to 300 U.S. dollars.
