Afghanistan: the West is doomed to repeat the fate of the USSR

For the last few months Afghanistan was pushed to the background of world news reports, mostly because it was overshadowed by the events in the Middle East. But NATO-led military operation still continues, people are dying there every day and coalition forces seem to be far from achieving their officially declared goals. Oleg Kulakov, a retired colonel, served in the Soviet War in Afghanistan and is now a professor of the Military University in an interview with the chief editor of Andrei Zolotov, Jr. expresses deep doubts about the possibility of a successful end to the current operation in Afghanistan.
