Belarus pres pardons nine participants in mass rioting in Minsk

MINSK, August 11 (Itar-Tass) — Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko has pardoned nine persons who took an active part in mass rioting on the day of the presidential election, December 19, 2010, in Minsk, the press service of the Belarussian president announced on Thursday.

All the pardoned persons, whose names are not given, were freed from serving their sentence.

The decision on the pardon was made on the basis of the convicted persons’ plea, considering that they have realized that their actions were illegal, their pleading guilty and sincere repentance, the presidential press service notes.
