Brown, pink snow falls in Russia’s South | Top Russian news and analysis online | ‘RIA Novosti’ newswire: “Unusually colored brown and pink snow appeared in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, regional meteorologists said on Wednesday.
Regional meteorologists said that normal white snow had fallen first, but later it was replaced with rain which colored it in pinks and browns. Dust and sand brought by strong southern winds from Africa had apparently created the odd-colored snow in the region.
‘This type of snow is not harmful to residents,’ the regional department of Russia’s consumer watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said, adding that additional analyses would be done.
Last week, the Amur region in Russia’s Far East was hit by yellow snow as high winds in Mongolia mixed the clouds from a front with dust and sand, crossed northern China, and then dumped the unique-colored snow in Russia.
