China-Russia-Korea golden channel reopens

Taipei, March 19 (CNA) A transportation line over land and sea, linking northeastern China, eastern Russia and South Korea, reopened Tuesday after more than two years, according to Chinese media reports. A cargo ship set off in the afternoon from the South Korean city of Sokcho to the Russian port settlement of Zarubino en route to Hunchun in China’s Jilin Province, the China News Service reported. The route, dubbed the “golden channel,” was first opened in 2000, allowing direct access from Jilin to the Sea of Japan.
