A construction crane fell on a power transmission line in Surgut on Monday, briefly blacking out nearly half of the Urals city, the SIA-Press news agency reported.
Operations at the city’s leading enterprises were suspended and telephone communications, the internet and traffic lights in some parts of Surgut did not work for a few hours.
The crane fell at a construction site owned by the Sibregionstroy company.
Rashid Abrarov, the chief of Surgut’s civil defense and emergencies department, said safety watchdog Rostekhnadzor and prosecutors were investigating the accident.
The transmission line has been repaired and power to customers has been restored, he said.
