The struggling for playoffs New Jersey Devils rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Atlanta Thrashers 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Travis Zajac and Patrik Elias began the Devils’ comeback, Rookie Jacob Josefson scored the game’s winner, while Ilya Kovalchuk set the final score in the dying seconds of the game.
The Devils also got the benefit of having an apparent tying goal by Evander Kane waved off with 37.4 seconds remaining because of a high stick.
The Newark team have improved to 23-3-2 in their last 28 games and moved past the 50 per cent mark for the first time this season.
They jumped from 12th place in the Eastern Conference to 10th, but still have a six-point deficit to the playoff zone with 13 games left in the regular season.
