Dynamo Kursk regain women’s basketball’s EuroCup for Russia

Russia’s Dynamo Kursk produced a stunning comeback to outgun Turkish opponents Kayseri Kaski in the final of the women’s EuroCup.

Dynamo had a tough task ahead of them on their home court after going down by 14 points (55-69) in the first leg in Turkey.

But Alfredas Vainauskas’s side showed great team spirit, clawing back 11 points by the end of the opening quarter.

US center Michelle Snow was on fire on the night, scoring 30 points and collecting 11 rebounds for Kursk.

Another American, Latoya Sanders, also put up a strong performance for Kayseri, but her 27 points and 10 rebounds were not enough.

Dynamo’s lead increased with every quarter and resulted in a comfortable 75-52 victory.

The Kursk side are the first Russian team to succeed in the EuroCup since 2007, when the prestigious trophy was lifted by Dynamo Moscow.
