Eight cleared of safety neglect after Domodedovo attack

Eight people who were facing charges of neglect relating to the 2011 terrorist attack on Domodedovo Airport have become witnesses in the criminal case.

Several police officials and businessmen have been cleared of violating transport safety regulations. Among them was the head of transport police in Central Russia and a top executive of the airport’s managing company.

The criminal case was launched the day after the attack. President Medvedev ordered investigators to find those responsible for the lack of safety at the airport transport. The investigation has not been closed yet.

Police are also investigating the attack itself, with three people already under arrest.

The attack on Domodedovo took place at the end of January, killing 37 injuring 150.
